Joshua Tree

We made it back to California!
What before we cross the border we remember the fruit check station. We grabbed all the fruit out of the trailer and started eating it as best as we could, thinking we had quite a few miles before they check. But they had moved it up right to the border! And they didn't even ask if we had fruit they just waved us through. Oh well, yummy snack!
We were greeted by a rest stop near a prison that said do not pick up any hitchhikers... and there were bullet scars on the mirror.

All over the USA when the kids are asked what our nearest national Park is, the answer is Joshua Tree. But we haven't been there in a few years, so we decided to stop on our way in.
Those are really fat caterpillars plant.
Silas made a desert video for us at the transition zone between the Mojave & Sonora deserts.
Then we began to climb.

And of course we did the Junior Ranger program.

Two days of climbing adventures

Scott really felt the need to challenge himself. As did all the boys. Something about conquering things.

About three minutes after we got to the top, we saw a helmet peaking up over the edge.
And then another. One of them asked, "You mean there's another way to get up here?" Too funny!
