Father's Day began with Sunday service at Northlake Baptist in Longview. Sy made a friend in the parking lot and say with him during the service. Too cute. Definitely an interesting service since the man who spoke gave testimony of his dad's impact on life. His dad had owned a pizzeria so he served pizza while speaking! Pretty tasty church service. (:
Uncle Gaius barbecued for us and Aunt Marilyn put out another amazing spread of food. The kids thought the best part was throwing their corn cobs off the deck into the forest (that they own).
All too soon it was time to say goodbye.
Again we longed to stay for more time with family.
Thankfully, just across the border there was more family waiting for us!
Jake and Katie have often visited us in SoCal. So we were excited to have an opportunity to visit them. They live in a pretty small place like us, so we actually are staying at Katie's parents place just a few minutes from their home. Last time we saw her parents was 7 years ago when Kaia was the flower girl in Jake & Katie's wedding! We enjoyed the basketball game and I had a blast talking books with Katie's mom who is a librarian. (:
Katie's dad and grandma gave us fun ideas for national park visits too. I love getting stories of firsthand adventures from the past because it makes our visits that much richer.
