Finally made it to the space needle
(After visiting the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation center, which was a fun view of their philanthropic endeavors.)
Fremont bridge - heading out of the city center
"Fremont Troll", under the bridge - he guards the neighborhood
Chittenden Locks - opened in 1917! Free for boats to travel through - (a nice alternative to the Panama Canal, which is psycho expensive!)
Hey used to wrap the ropes around this to pull the boats through the locks by hand
Once through the locks, there is also a railway draw bridge that is raised to let the boats through
In both of these photos, you can see how the water is high on one side of the gates and low on the other
THis is to one side of the locks.
For the salmon to swim upstream!
