Wind Cave with the grandparents!

After Rushmore, we headed to Wind Cave - the 7th national park but one of the smallest.
A ranger took us down into the maze of caves. AND it was supposed to be $48 for the 6 of us, but was FREE with our 4th grade pass! Awesome!

First we were introduced to how the cave was found. In the 1880s, some Cowboys noticed wind coming out of a hole in the ground, blowing the grasses.
Kik felt the wind.
Then we went into the tunnel.
We went about 200 feet underground.

This cave had unique features.
"Box work" made of calcite in limestone instead of your classic stalactites and stalagmites.
Fascinating!
And despite the close quarters and dark and knowing I was way underground, I lasted the entire 90min tour without freaking out once. (:
Afterwards we explored above ground.
