Lewis & Clark Trail to Lolo Pass to Corvallis, MT

We spent most of our day driving along the Clearwater River.
Woke to the sounds of the Little Salmon River running by.
Had breakfast and quiet moments with the Lord watching the river. I'm reading a book of encouragement for mothers and was praying for my kids. Kik especially is less than enthusiastic about this trip. I'm not sure if he'll ever love it or if it will be a test of endurance all year. I pray either way, we'll all grow in our love and joy in the Lord.
This is one of 4 bags of cherries picked at the edge of our campground that we took along for snack today. We are becoming real fruit pickers! I wonder what will be next.
The first part of the drive was through hills that looked like this with these signs explaining the different historic interactions with the Nez Perce Indians.
We tried to read most of them (if they didn't come too quickly for us to stop with the trailer.)
It was challenging to explain westward expansion, land treaties, etc all while trying to be politically correct and say "native americans", especially when we kept seeing signs like "entering Indian reservation" and reading about "Indian treaties".
We stopped for lunch in Grangeville, ID.
While I was in the grocery, a little old lady gave Ky & Sy 2 quarters so they could each ride the pony outside they were fighting to sitting on!
Scott needed to work for a bit, so the rest of us bought a cable we needed for the trailer at the hardware store, then played at the park for a while.

So beautiful!

Lolo Pass Visitor Center
There was so much information. This was a great visitor center with a small museum, gift shop, and free coffee for our driver! (:

Great exhibits in a small space

And then... We drove down to Corvallis to see our friends the Fields!
So fun to hang out with Mike and Karen. (Although I had a hard time not calling them Mr. and Mrs. Fields.) They graciously served us a delicious dinner of "organic grass fed beef" from their own yard! Imagine - from Fullertonians to Ranchers! We did have a blast reminiscing. Thank you Fields family! (:
Panoramic view from their back porch.(see the cows for next year's meals?!?)
