SD Air and Space Museum & Wall Drug

We left Custer, SD in the rain.
CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) museum upstairs at a rest stop.
At the air and space museum on Ellsworth Air Force Base, we saw and touched and read about all things Air Force.
So fun to have grandpa, a former airman, with us to tell stories and make the things we saw come to life.

In preparation for the tour we hope to take tomorrow, we spent some extra time in the Minuteman Missile exhibit.
This map shows the 15 launch centers in this area with their 150 missile silos.
Tomorrow we'll drive to see the D-09 ("delta 9") silo (or launch facility) with a training rocket and, hopefully, the D-01 launch control facility, if we can get tickets.
Pizza Hut all-you-can-eat lunch buffet was perfect on a cold rainy day.
Ky on the air guitar
Wall Drug - the wonder! (Scott is on a conference call but was kind enough to jump out into the rain for our photo before continuing his meeting while the rest of us explored the "drug store".
Free ice water is what made this place famous - honestly, not the best water I've had. Maybe on a hotter day?
Sy is wishing he was big.
