Santa Fe, NM - Capitol #38

New Mexico has the oldest and newest capitols in the U.S.  The oldest was built in 1610 for Spain. It is called the Palace of the Governors and is located downtown. (At end of post) The newest was dedicated in 2000.
This Capitol is called the Roundhouse.
And it's actually round.

And they're super big on art in their Capitol.
There were so many different art displays in every part of the four story building.
The house has 70 members
and the senate has 42 members.
They meet for 30 days in even years and 60 days in odd years and they are not paid.
More art.
Governor's office
And more art
This piece is called "Tired Fish" and reminded us of our time in Minnesota. Jo had the privilege of throwing tires and didn't even realize he was helping to create inspiration for artists. (:

Here in Santa Fe, the Old Spanish Trail and Santa Fe Trail meet.
