I-40, Cadillac Ranch, & tornadoes

Goodbye rodeo grounds. We enjoyed our stay.
Onward.
Entering Texas...
Sever thunderstorm warning and possible tornadoes! I went into Sam's to shop while Scott got gas. So fun when your husband calls and says, "Come out immediately; there's a tornado coming." What?!?
So another RVer was in the lot and told Scott that even though they were traveling east (like us), they were going to head west a few miles and wait a couple hours to ride out the storm and that we should get out of there, too!
Better safe than sorry. We jumped in the car and headed west. While driving we checked some weather sources and decided we could actually head east and beat the storm. We had just missed Cadillac Ranch about a mile back because we were trying to get gas and get out of town and decided not to stop, but now we found ourselves about to pass it again (because we heeded the advice to head west) so we decided to stop for a minute.
So glad we did. The kids LOVED it!
And really, who wouldn't?!
Obviously, we were super excited - to get out of the car and run around!
This RV park is right down the street, but we weren't planning to stay in the path of the storm.
We stopped at this rest stop for a sec.
The sunset was beautiful, but to the south, the weather still looked kinda scary.
So we continued.
I am really not sure how traffic is reported to maps, but. I think we might have made this red line! When we drove up it wasn't there, there were no other cars around. Since there was a crazy lighting storm going on, we just pulled over and had one nameless boy go potty from the running board of the car. Then we got right back on the freeway and moved on. A bit later, when I opened my map app, it was still on this piece of map I had last looked at, but now there was "traffic". I'd love to know how that happened.
Anyway.
We drove all the way through Texas in ONE DAY! Totally impossible on the 10, but easily accomplished on the 40. (:
