Guadalupe Mountains - 3/17

We saw this funny "Target" the other day outside Marathon/Big Bend. (It is really just a railroad building.)
It was made funnier when we saw this Prada "store" today! Apparently this one was put in first as an "art installation" and the Target just showed up months later. Too funny!

We made it through nowhere to Guadalupe Mountains. Still in the middle of nowhere, but a destination nevertheless.
Guadalupe Mountains was a great park. It's an official Wilderness area, so there are no roads through the park, only trails.
So many great hikes to do! For our first evening, we chose the Devil's Hall 4.2mile hike up to a spring and narrow canyon. It was a great way to end a day that was spent sitting in the car!
We did have to be aware as there was evidence of a mountain lion in the area yesterday.
We made it!
You can almost tell this is super steep!

We caught a beautiful view of the sunset as we hiked back down to the campground.

Although there are no roads through the park, there is a visitor center with hiker parking and a small campground right on the edge of the park. (You can see the trailer really small at the left in the picture below.)
Still, we were in the middle of nowhere and the nearest gas was almost 40 miles either way and the nearest groceries was over 65 miles. Unfortunately, we had planned to pick up milk when we topped off our gas (in Van Horn, TX, aka middle of nowhere) but forgot! So we had to alter our menu.
Enjoying the beauty of God's creation miles from civilization and loving it.
