Fort Davis NHS - 3/15

Today, we drove across the middle of nowhere in Texas - again. We dropped our trailer at Prude Ranch - our home for the next few days and headed back to Fort Davis.
We also had the opportunity to do laundry in town a couple blocks from the fort, so I was in and out a bit switching loads and such. But so thankful to get it done!
This historic site is yet another fort that was critical as our country grew larger and westward.
Much of the fort has been restored.
We are more or less following the "El Paso Road" from San Antonio to SoCal.

The Chihuahuan desert is HUGE, but I suspect since only a smidge is in the USA, we have not learned about it before.
It was here we started learning about the Butterfield Overland Mail Co. and since we're following their route, I expect we'll find out more as we travel.

Thankfully, when we dropped the trailer this afternoon, we started dinner in the crockpot. That made our evening a bit more enjoyable for me. (:
Finally, after dinner we decided to check out the indoor pool. So happy with this fun find of a place to stay and play!
