Petrified Forest - 4/11

Such beauty! And vivid colors that my camera just did not capture.
Painted desert runs from the Grand Canyon to Petrified Forest National Park.
In the 1500s when Coronado was exploring this area, he named it the painted desert.
Ever playful
The Painted Desert Inn now serves as a museum, but still has amazing views from every window.
They even use some petrified wood to construct it.
The beauty of the painted desert was hidden until route 66 brought visitors right through it.
This car commemorates those visitors stopping in awe of the beauty.
There are also dwellings from early Native Americans and many petroglyphs in the park.
The striped formations in the Blue Mesa area were amazing.

But as amazing as the Blue Mesa area was, there was little petrified forest there.
So we moved over to the Jasper area "off the beaten path" where we found tons of petrified wood.

Between the Grand Canyon yesterday and the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest today I am in awe of the beauty of God's creation - absolutely amazing!
