Happy Birthday Baby Jesus!
After a late night, nobody in this house was waking up at
the crack of dawn to open presents. Even without the late night, we told the
kids that the trip was their present, so nobody was anticipating much except Sy
who just couldn’t wrap his head around a trip being a present. (:
When we did get up, we did open stockings right away. Then
we had breakfast and continued with gift opening. Although Scott & I only
bought a small gift for Sy, the kids had all purchased gifts for each other and
us and their grandparents, so there was plenty to open. Not to mention, the
grandparents couldn’t help themselves either.
tiny bananas!
Our tradition of getting the gifts you purchased from under
the tree and personally handing them to the recipient continued. Grandpa tried
to have just Jo & Ky hand out the first round of presents, but they couldn’t
grasp handing out gifts that were not from themselves. (: That’s okay. I love
the excitement they feel giving their gifts and watching the receiver open
them.
One fun gift we all received were soccer jerseys from
Grandpa & Grandma’s recent trip to Turkey.
silly kids stole my camera...
We had a lovely Christmas dinner. I helped decorate the table
with some fun origami skills on the napkins. We had the traditional ham and
potatoes and green bean casserole and even jello.
After dinner we watched The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (BBC version). Then we just stayed home. Yesterday, Sy asked when we would have a day when we didn’t go anywhere. So today was Sy’s day. We relaxed and enjoyed each other and accomplished a small bit of a horse puzzle Ky received as a gift. Fun Day!
