Whaling and Cliffside Mansions

Still enjoying the fall leaves - from the bathroom window!
Todas we explored the whaling industry of the 1850s in a seaport in the south side of Massachusetts, New Bedford.

Then we headed to the uppity beach town of Newport, Rhode Island.
Surfers were catching 1ft waves.

And our kids were catching all sorts of large shells and even a live 4" clam!
We took a stroll on the "Cliff Walk" past multimillion dollar mansions of the gilded age.

It was pretty weird to be on the beach and not have the sunset over the water.
