Czech Capital of the USA & Homestead NM - 6/4

We had a lovely park all to ourselves
but come the end of July, this park will be packed with hundreds of eastern Europeans celebrating Czech days.
In town we found this shop that sells jukeboxes. As we walked along the streets there was polka music playing.
In the nearby town of Beatrice (not pronounced how you would think), was a national monument dedicated to the homesteaders who settled the Midwest.
Dress up time!
Thought provoking exhibits about the removal of native Americans alongside those about how hard the settlers had it. What would have happened without the Homestead Act of 1862?
The Louisiana Purchase was made in 1803, but it took many years to settle up the land. During those years did the Indians know their land had been purchased?
What the settlers accomplished and lived through was impressive.
Found a geocache.
Tools of the day
We walked a couple trails, but there were so many bugs.
We're wimps.

We decided to head back to our little Czech town and swim in their super fun pool!

It was surprising to me how few rules they needed - I am so from sue-happy California. This small town pool was a breath of fresh air.
