Helena, Montana - the Capitol

Montana's Capitol building has an interesting history. From the selection of design to the statue on top, there is intrigue. 
The original design contest winner was note used after the committee choosing the design was found to be corrupt (having nothing of do with the designer).  Later, his design ended up being used to create the Arkansas state Capitol building. In the meantime, the actual design used for this building was also used for 


So many beautiful details!
The only bummer of our tour was the highlighting of some campaign against drugs that included student artwork that was pretty disturbing. There were displays on all four sides of the main lobby where you would normally stand to look at the rotunda and other showcased  frescoes. Our kids were so distracted (by some pretty scary stuff) that we had to skip this main area. ):
