Big Cypress National Preserve

Driving through Alligator Alley, we approached the northern part of the Everglades, Big Cypress National Preserve.
About half of our drive had 3 foot fences on both sides of the highway. There were crews installing the 8 foot fences pictured above. Apparently, the 3 foot fences were holding back the alligators, but not the panthers.
Inside Big Cypress, we had our first alligator encounters.

There were also many different species of birds.

We saw these alligator among the cypress trees
on our little side road adventure.

Our campground was in the middle of this huge swap that is Big Cypress!
